To be given the opportunity to be President of our great club is such a privilege. I was first introduced into the club by my cousin Bert Fisher in 1988, I’m sure many of you will remember him, and I know that Bert would be so proud of me today. I thank him for opening the world of bowls to me.

I have had a good journey over the years. Some of you may not know that  this is my second stint on the committee and I have enjoyed every minute.

I have been fortunate to be selected to represent the club playing in Burgh and  Lanarkshire leagues and more recently playing for the Seniors and having my name added to the Honours board when I won the Burgh Seniors was a great highlight.

Sadly, since last opening day, we lost our Centenary President Alistair Kerr, along with Alistair McKerral and past President Jim Law, who are all sadly missed.

Looking forward to the coming year with our booming membership and talent both young and old, I am sure our proud representatives will bring home some silverware and in that regard I wish them all the best.

It’s you, our members, who make our club successful - so come along and take part.

Our Saturday competitions are a great time to relax, have a game of bowls ,a pint or two and a bit of banter.

The Monday night promiscuous is a fun night for everyone whether you’re a novice or experienced player and a great way to get to know the club.

Unfortunately we cannot all be good enough to be selected to play in the Scottish, Lanarkshire or Burgh competitions, but we can all go along and give our support whether young or old and I would encourage you to do that, it,s always appreciated.

May I wish all our members a very enjoyable and successful 2015 season.

  Jim Neilson,

    President, Dalzell Bowling Club  2015-16
